The balloon, the size of a football field when inflated is designed to float up to 40 kilometers (25 miles), deep in the stratosphere to measure X-rays and gamma rays sent out by various stars and galaxies, then flutter back down to the Alice Springs launch site

The Bullet 580, the world's largest inflatable airship, stands in Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, Alabama, Wednesday, May 19, 2010, following an inflation test and fit check. The airship will be flight tested later in the summer and will carry a joint NASA and Old Dominion University payload that will measure moisture content in soil. In addition to government research work, the airship can also be used for military, homeland security and disaster relief missions. It is designed to carry payloads of up to 2,000 pounds to 20,000 feet

The female elephant was killed and another pregnant elephant was seriously injured by a train when they searched for food at the sanctuary. The pregnant elephant later gave birth and fled the site, leaving the baby which was rescued by the forest guards and sent to Assam State zoo for treatment
